This card was made with the new Swallowtail Stamp (Wood 129213 Clear 129216 MDS 133011). This gorgeous, over sized butterfly provides a great focal point for this card.
We embossed this card with black embossing powder on Whisper White Card Stock. It is VERY important to remember to use your embossing buddy before stamping the image with Versa Mark. If you don't, you will have many black specks all over your card. This is a large stamp so the entire image will not fit on a standard card size. It is not supposed to. So we stamped it with Versa Mark, then applied the black embossing powder. You will need to have a small brush on hand to gently brush off any stray embossing powder specks that stuck where you don't want them.
Then heat it with your heat tool. The trick is to heat it all the way. If you miss a part, your beautiful butterfly will rub off. You can tell when it is embossed because it will change from a flat appearance to a shiny appearance. This happens quickly. If you over heat it, it will turn flat again. The trick is heating it just enough but not too much. It takes a bit a practice. Another tip is to start in one corner, make sure that is fully embossed, then move to the next section. It works best not to move the heat tool all over the card but to have a plan and work one section at a time before moving one.
Handy Tip! If you find the heat tool heats your fingers too, use a clothespin to hold the card.
The Happy Birthday greeting from Bring on the Cake Stamp Set (Wood 121899 Clear 121958 MDS 124015) was also embossed with Black embossing powder, then placed on a Basic Black Border and attached on the top of the Butterfly. The Butterfly was adhered to Basic Black Border and then attached to the Pacific Point Card Stock Base.
The object of these Birthday cards was to give you the ability to have a lot of cards available at the beginning of the year. They were flat so they would go easily into an envelope without extra postage and were good to send to a variety of people. This is one of those cards that you could easily send to your Dad, a co-worker or your best friend.
